Gardai fined more than 300 people over the weekend as they had made a non-essential journey.
Ahead of the weekend, the public had been advised to take account of the 5km exercise limit when making plans.
The vast majority of people were compliant with the rules over the weekend, according to Gardai.
But over 300 people were issued with a €100 fine for suspected breaches of the public health regulation relating to non-essential travel.
It means more than 400 people have been fined for travelling outside their 5km zone or venturing out for a non-essential reason since last Monday.
Gardai are reminding people the 5km limit includes the distance travelled to a location to exercise.
In other words, you can’t travel more than 5km to a location to exercise.
