The organisers of the Great Ireland Run in Dublin have apologised after the 10K run was cut short by 1.5 kilometres.
2,000 runners took part in the run on Sunday with plenty thinking they had clocked a 'Personal Best' and two thinking they had smashed a world record.
However, it emerged they actually hadn't run the full 10K because of a mistake during the run.
It's understood participants were misdirected and didn't realise they were running the wrong way.

Was really proud about finishing the Great Ireland 10k run this morning in under 50mins. Then found out a steward made a mistake and we actually only ran 8.6km. Still a personal best. #TheGreatIreland8.6Run 😅 pic.twitter.com/pp0bTk01x4
