There have been 767 new coronavirus cases announced this evening along with two further deaths.
It takes the death toll in Ireland to 1,917 and the national total number of cases to 62,750.
Some 321 of the new cases are in Dublin, with 84 in Cork, 47 in Meath and 34 in Roscommon.
The remaining 257 are spread across all other counties.
The 14-day rate of the virus now stands at 248 per 100,000 people – down from 287 on Friday.
Cavan still has the highest 14-day rate in the country at 563.2, followed by Meath at 482.5 and Sligo 332.6
Dublin now stands at 227.2 while Leitrim is at 96.7.
The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said the recent reductions in infection rates are welcome.
“We have seen, I think, a decrease in the incidence of infection across all of the different parameters that we use,” he said. “The five, the seven and the 14-day incidences.
“So those incidences in terms of their reduction compare favourable with where things are at in Europe – but we still have a long way to go.”
Some 68% of the new coronavirus patients were under the age of 45-years-old and the median age was 33-years-old.
This afternoon, there were 322 coronavirus patients in Irish hospitals with 44 in intensive care.
Of the 88,143 coronavirus tests carried out in the past week, some 4.8% have come back positive.
