Officials Announce 390 New Coronavirus Cases And 11 More Deaths

Health officials have announced 390 new coronavirus cases and 11 more deaths this evening.

Of the deaths announced this evening, four happened this month, two in March, four in February and one in January.

It takes the death toll in Ireland to 4,847 and the national case total to 244,297.

There were 179 COVID-19 patients in hospital this morning - a 12.5% decrease on last week.

Meanwhile, there were 48 in intensive care, down two on yesterday.

Of the cases announced this evening, there were 172 in Dublin, 42 in Kildare, 21 in Meath, 20 in Tipperary and 18 in Donegal, with the rest spread across 19 other counties.

The 14-day incidence in Ireland now stands at 113.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Kildare now has the highest incidence in Ireland at 209, followed by Donegal at 204.8.

There are seven counties with rates between 100 and 200.

As of Sunday, 1,208,45 vaccine doses had been administered in Ireland.

Some 855,512 people had received their first dose, while 352,947 people received two doses.

Of the 103,720 COVID-19 tests administered in Ireland over the past week, some 2.7% came back positive.
