October was warmer and wetter than usual with the warmest temperatures in decades recorded at several stations.
Met Eireann says all mean temperatures were higher than normal - Mount Dillon in Roscommon recorded 21 degrees on October 2nd.
Newport, Co. Mayo reported a high of 20.9°C - its highest October maximum since records began in 1960, while a number of other stations in the Midlands, East and along Atlantic coasts measured their highest temperatures in six to 42 years.
Rainfall was above average except in parts of the West, Northwest and North.
Mullingar recorded its wettest October since the station opened in 1950 while stations in the South, Southeast and Southwest reported their wettest October in five to eleven years.
