There was a drop of 16% in the number of passengers arriving into Ireland from overseas, in January, when compared to the previous month.
Just over 584,000 people arrived here, according to CSO figures.
Meanwhile, the number of passengers leaving Ireland on overseas trips in January was down 23%, when compared to December.
There were 562,300 departures recorded in the first month of the year.
