Senior politicians are rejecting a call for an end to prosecutions for killings carried out during the Troubles.
The Northern Ireland attorney general says he believes there should be no further inquiries into offences prior to 1998.
Groups representing victims of the conflict in the North are also strongly criticising John Larkin's comments.
