For the first time in 40 years Senator David Norris is sporting a clean shaven look after he had his beard shaved in aid of cancer research.
Senator Norris who was diagnosed with cancer 4 months ago promised to shave his beard off if the referendum to abolish the Seanad was voted down.
More than 18,000 euro has been raised by the 'shave off' which happened live on the Ray D'Arcy Show this morning.
Listeners donated in their droves by texting SHAVE to 50300 at a cost of 2 euro.
