Normal People has been nominated for four Emmy awards.
Sally Rooney, the writer of the novel that the series is based on, is nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special along with Alice Birch.

Paul Mescal has earned his first Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Connell.
The Kildare actor is up against Jeremy Irons, Hugh Jackman, Jeremy Pope and Mark Ruffalo for his individual award.

- Sally Rooney and Alice Birch - Outstanding writing for a limited series, movie or dramatic special
Other actors in the running for awards include Olivia Colman and Jodie Comer for their roles in The Crown and Killing Eve.
Both those shows are also nominated in the Outstanding Drama Series category.
The winners are due to be revealed on the 21st of September.
