Thousands of passengers have had their morning commute thrown into chaos after train services in and out of Dublin’s Heuston Station were suspended.
There are no trains running in or out of the station due to a “major signal fault.”
The fault occurred just before 6am this morning.
The train service said it was not possible to provide alternative transport for affected passengers due to the number of people affected.
Hi Deirdre, it would be impossible to source adequate numbers of buses given the time of the day and the numbers of people affected

Iarnród Eireann said the issue is impacting all Intercity, Portlaoise Commuter and Newbridge/Hazelhatch to Grand Canal Dock services.
The rail service says DART, Commuter and Intercity services in and out of Connolly have not been impacted.
The rail service said it is working to fix the problem; however, it is not know how long it will take to fix the problem.
