At least nine people have been killed and 23 wounded in a suspected suicide bombing in Afghanistan.
The explosion happened near the Indian consulate in the eastern city of Jalalabad.
A local police chief says children attending a religious lesson in a nearby mosque are among the dead.
Deputy police chief of Nangarhar province Masum Khan Hashimi told Reuters that the blast had been a failed attempt to attack the Indian consulate.
He said two of the attackers wearing vests laden with explosives got out of the car and were immediately fired upon by police.
The remaining occupant of the car then blew it up.
