A new permit system for taxis at Dublin Airport comes into effect today.
Drivers will have to pay a €10 annual fee to collect pre-booked fares from one of the airport's car parks.
The move has been criticised by drivers who say it will result in longer wait times, and reduced taxi availability.
DAA spokesperson Graeme McQueen, is dismissing that and explains how the system works.
"Anyone who is picking up a pre-booked passenger from the airport will now buy a permit for €10 a year, which works out at less than 30c a day, so very cheap.
"There's no material change for passengers. They can pre-book taxis in the same way and then go and collect that taxi from any of the car parks here at Dublin Airport".
