Police in Mauritius have launched a fresh investigation into the murder of Michaela McAreavey. The 27-year-old was strangled to death in her hotel room on her honeymoon in Mauritius in 2011.
Two hotel workers were charged but later acquitted of her murder.
Her husband John has criticised the investigation saying it would not find justice for Michaela. He returned to the island in 2017 and offered a financial reward for information but no new leads were discovered.
I note that the Mauritius Gov has launched a ‘new’ police investigation into Michaela’s murder. This comes one week after I questioned their partnership with @LFC . Perhaps people will now understand the type of bullshit I have had to put up with for so long. #justiceformichaela
