The Bill which means everyone automatically becomes an organ donor, unless they opt-out, will complete its passage through the Oireachtas today.
The Human Tissue Bill, will also see new regulations for post-mortems and the removal, donation and use of organs for transplant.
Health Minster, Stephen Donnelly, is also making an extra €1.6 million in funding available.
Minister Donnelly hopes the new system will lead to an increase in organ donations and a reduction in waiting lists for transplants.
"There are 601 people currently waiting for an organ donation in the country, and what this Bill does is move us from an opt-in organ donation system to an opt-out.
"Essentially, we will all be deemed to be organ donors, unless we, we put ourselves on a register that says we don't want it".
The new Bill comes after consultation and work from multiple groups including, healthcare professionals, patient advocacy groups, legal experts, and members of both the Dáil and the Seanad, who've provided cross-party support for the Bill.
