The government of Niger has declared three days of national mourning for 92 migrants who died trying to cross the Sahara Desert.

52 children, 33 women and 7 children died.

Their badly decomposed bodies were found last week - and some of them were eaten by jackals.

The tragedy occurred after two vehicles carrying would-be emigrants to neighbouring Algeria both broke down.

The victims are believed to have died of thirst.
