A woman and her young daughter have died in a road crash in Co. Mayo.
It happened when a car and a lorry collided on the N26 in Lismoran in Foxford shortly before 6pm on Tuesday evening.
The woman who was aged in her 40s, was driving the car, and her eight-year-old daughter was a passenger.
The driver of the lorry was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The scene of the crash was closed on Wednesday morning to allow for a technical examination to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was travelling on the N26 between Swinford and Foxford between 5pm and 6pm on Tuesday, and who has video of dashcam footage to contact them at Ballina Garda Station.
Fr John Durkan, Parish Priest in Swinford, says there have been a number of crashes on the stretch of road where the mother and daughter died.
"It's terrible, and this isn't the only accident that happened in recent times here.
"There was an accident involving five very young fellas recently, and there have been many others, which maybe didn't get a lot of coverage.
"But in the last month, there have been six or seven that I have come across and heard of.
