106,000 children have been registered for a Covid-19 vaccine since a portal was opened for the age group at the end of last year.
There are around 485,000 5 to 11-year-olds living in Ireland.
72,000 of this cohort have been vaccinated to date.
Anyone aged between 5 and 11 will receive two reduced doses of a Pfizer vaccine three weeks apart.
Head of the Vaccination Programme Damien McCallion is encouraging parents to do their research making a decision around vaccinating their child.
"Parents understandably want to be fully informed before they bring their children forward.
"But we are seeing good numbers coming through.
"Certainly in terms of the centres - the feedback from parents has been positive in relation to the experience in vaccination centres.
"We would encourage parents to go to trusted sources - we can understand why people would be worried, they want to get the most accurate information such as HSE.ie."
