Police in Australia have indicated that charges in relation to the death of a Galway man in Perth may be stepped up.
22-year-old Abbas Al Jrood has appeared before Perth Magistrates Court accused of grievous bodily harm, after an assault on Thomas Kearney from Ballyconneely left him fighting for his life.
The incident happened on December 17 in the early hours of the morning outside a kebab shop in the Northbridge area of the city.
Mr Keaney died in hospital over the weekend.
