The Mayor of the Melbourne suburb where murdered Irish woman Jill Meagher lived in Australia - says her death has galvanised action across the country.
Oscar Yildiz is meeting the 29-year-old's family in her home town in Drogheda in Co Louth today - to express his condolences on behalf of the people of Moreland.
Jill Meagher lived - and was murdered - in the town on the outskirts of Melbourne.
In June - serial sex offender Adrian Ernest Bayley was sentenced to 35 years for raping and murdering the Irish woman.
His conviction led to a review of parole laws in the State of Victoria.
