Staff at the Mater Hospital have applauded the Irish public for staying home during the covid-19 crisis.
Frontline staff at the facility gathered at safe physical distances this morning and clapped for two minutes at 11am today.

They are urging people to continue adhering to the public health guidelines to slow the spread of coronavirus.
Professor Sean Gaine, a consultant respiratory physician at the Mater Hospital, says "We understand that it is difficult to stay apart from loved ones and believe that it is only right to pay tribute to the Irish public who are adhering to the public health guidelines."
Professor Gaine is asking "everyone to continue doing what you are doing."
