Dublin's Mater Hospital is now being investigated after bulk reporting 244 COVID-19 cases yesterday.
Last night, the Department of Health reported 426 new positive tests of coronavirus across Ireland, which marked a steep rise compared with recent days.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan said there was a delay in notifications at one hospital, which led to an accumulation of cases the National Public Health Emergency (NPHET) was not aware of.
However, the Mater Hospital insists it has "reported all cases of Covid-19 positive results to the relevant authorities on a daily basis".
In a statement released this afternoon, the hospital says it has met all legal requirements to report infectious diseases which is all correct and up to date.
It is now working with the HSE to understand why the provided data may not have been accurately captured.
