There has been a widespread welcome for Mary McAleese'Â’s criticism of the Catholic Church'Â’s position on gay people.
The former President of Ireland made the remarks in an interview with a Scottish newspaper.
She says she doesn't like the attitude to gay people, adding that the church has been in denial over the issue for decades.
