A man has been handed a life sentence for murdering his partner’s mother Patricia O’Connor at the home they shared at Mountain View Park in Dublin.
Kieran Greene beat her to death with a hurley on May 29th 2017 before burying her in a shallow grave in Co. Wexford.
After killing her, Kieran Greene buried Patricia O’Connor in a shallow grave in Wexford.
He dug her up a few days later, dismembered her and scattered her remains across the Wicklow mountains
Four others, including her husband Gus, daughter Louise, granddaughter Stephanie and Stephanie’s father Keith Johnston assisted in the attempted cover-up afterwards.
Gus admitted reporting her as a missing person at a time when he knew she was dead. The court heard today that he saw his wife’s body wrapped up on the floor of the sitting room, but he just washed his hands of it and went back to bed.
In his victim impact statement, Richard O’Connor said the brutality of how his mother was killed and dismembered, and the disgusting way it was covered up will stay with him for the rest of his life.
He, along with her brothers and sisters, also said they were disgusted by how she was portrayed during the trial, in a way that made her seem horrible, which she wasn’t.
Greene was handed the mandatory life sentence, while the others will be sentenced on Friday.
