A 31 year old man has been jailed for 2 years for having sex with a 14 year old girl.
He was 24 at the time of the offence in Sligo in 2012 and claimed he thought the girl was older.
The court heard the girl was at a vulnerable time of her life and pretended she was pregnant in the hopes it would put him off.
The accused was due to go on trial for rape but pleaded guilty to the defilement of a child under the age of 15.
He was jailed for 3 years with one suspended with the Judge warning him she doesn’t give people second chances.
