Gardai in Kilkenny are investigating the serious assault of a man at a house in the early hours of this morning.
The 46-year-old man is believed to be in a critical condition following the assault on the Castlecomer Road at approximately 4am.
Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to St Luke’s Hospital.
A man in his 30s was arrested and is currently detained at Kilkenny Garda Station, where he can be held for up to 24 hours.
The scene is preserved for a technical examination and Gas House Lane is currently closed off.
