A man has been arrested after another man died in a stabbing in Finglas, Dublin.
It happened in the early hours of Thursday morning on Hampton Wood Way off St Margaret’s Road.
Describing the scene, Today FM reporter Stephanie Rohan, was at the scene and spoke to residents living nearby, "a blood-stained cloth remains at the scene here this morning at Hampton Wood Way.
"One local told me he saw two men fighting on the road at around 8.30pm [on Wednesday]. He said the men appeared to have been drinking and he rang gardai and thought it was over. Another local then described seeing ambulances arriving after midnight and paramedics trying to resituate a man on the road and another man being arrested".
The injured man was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Gardaí say a man in his 30s has been arrested and is being held at Finglas Garda Station, where he can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
The scene on the Hampton Wood Way was preserved for technical examination on Thursday morning and an investigation is ongoing.
