A murder investigation is underway after a man died following an assault in west Dublin.
A row broke out between two men at around 7 pm on Tuesday evening on the Main Street in Ongar.
One of the men, who was aged in his 40s, was stabbed.
He was taken to Connolly Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The scene was sealed off and preserved overnight ahead of a technical exam.
A family liaison officer has been appointed to the family of the victim. It's understood the victim was known to state services for personal issues.
Gardaí in Blanchardstown are investigating and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
They particularly want to speak to anyone who was in the Main Street area of Ongar between 6.30 pm and 7 pm on Tuesday evening or any drivers who may have dashcam footage.
