A man in his 40s has died following an assault in Co Kerry in the early hours of Monday morning.
Emergency services were called to Knockanure village at 12.30 am on Monday.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to University Hospital Kerry for a post mortem examination, and the services of the State Pathologist have been requested.
A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the alleged assault.
He's being questioned at a Garda station in the Kerry division where he can be held for up to 24 hours.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was travelling in the vicinity of Knockanure village between midnight and 1 am on Monday morning, and who may have video or dashcam footage to make it available to them.
