A 28 year old man has been found guilty of the murder of an elderly retired farmer in Co Waterford.
The body of 90 year old Paddy Lyons was found slumped in a chair at his home in Ballysaggart in Lismore two years ago.
A post mortem showed he had suffered multiple blows to the head and neck from a blunt weapon.
Ross Outram of Ferryland, Waterford Road, Clonmel, Co Tippeary had denied murder and claimed he had acted in self defence.
The prosecution described the killing as a “vicious attack on a defenceless old man”.
