A man has been found guilty of murdering the British backpacker Grace Millane - whose body was found in a suitcase in New Zealand.
The 27 year-old man- who can't be named for legal reasons - strangled the 22 year-old during their Tinder date in December last year.
Grace, from Wickford, Essex, met the man on the dating site, and spent several hours drinking with him in the centre of Auckland on 1 December, 2018.
The pair returned to his apartment and Ms Millane was killed either that night or in the early hours of the next morning - the date of her 22nd birthday.
Her body was then found in a suitcase in an area of bush on the outskirts of Auckland.
The jury returned a unanimous verdict after five hours of deliberation at Auckland High Court.
Her parents David and Gillian wept as they spoke to reporters afterwards:
'The verdict of murder today will be welcomed by every member of the Millane family and friends of Grace. It will not reduce the pain and suffering that we have had to endure over the past year'.
