An Italian man has appeared in a Liverpool court charged with a violent attack on Meath man Sean Cox outside Anfield last April.
The father of three from Dunboyne suffered catastrophic head injuries ahead of a Champions League match between Liverpool and AS Roma.
30 year old Simone Mastrelli from Rome faces two charges, of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Sean Cox and threatening unlawful violence that left a person fearing for their personal safety.
He spoke only to confirm his name and address and gave no indication of his plea. The accused was remanded in custody and is due before Liverpool Crown Court on March 1st.
