A man has died after an assault at a house in Kilkenny in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The 46-year-old was being treated in St Luke's Hospital for injuries sustained in the assault on the Castlecomer Road at 4am yesterday and he lost his fight for life last night.
The scene has been preserved and a post mortem is due to take place later.
A man in his 30's is being questioned in connection with his death.
A woman in her 20's has been released without charge.
