Man Convicted Of Hoax Bomb Threat To Justice Minister's Home
A man has been found guilty of calling in a hoax bomb threat to the home of the Justice Minister, Helen McEntee.
Michael Murray, with a former address at Seafield Road, Killiney, Dublin, made the call from his prison cell three years ago.
In March 2021, a volunteer with the Samaritans took a call from a man claiming to be a member of the Irish National Liberation Army.
The operator told the jury he claimed a number of bombs had been planted at Minister McEntee’s home.
No explosives were found there during a subsequent search.
The call was traced back to Michael Murray’s prison cell but he denied having anything to do with it.
However, a jury convicted him today after five hours of deliberations.
Murray is a very dangerous criminal with a long list of convictions for crimes such as rape, false imprisonment, child abduction, threats to kill and harassment.
He’ll be sentenced next Friday for this latest conviction.
