Gardai say they are liaising with their PSNI colleagues after the arrest of a man in connection with a murder inquiry.
A woman in her 20's was found stabbed to death at an apartment in Limerick city at lunchtime on Tuesday sparking a Garda manhunt.
A development in the case came last night when detectives from the PSNI Serious Crime branch arrested the 26-year-old man north of the border.
Two scenes are being examined by Gardai in Limerick and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Extensive searches have also been conducted in the area to locate a possible a murder weapon.
