Police in the North are investigating a hostage incident at a hotel in Belfast.
A man entered the hotel on Ormeau Avenue at around 6.45 yesterday evening, when he threatened staff and guests with what was believed to be a gun.
He held a man hostage, while police managed to evacuate everyone else from the scene.
Specially trained officers arrived shortly afterwards and the hostage was released, uninjured, just after 7 o'clock.
It's since been confirmed the item was not a firearm.
Chief Inspector Prendergast said, “Response officers were on the scene within five minutes. On arrival, the suspect was holding a man hostage. All other persons were evacuated".
A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being questioned by officers.
