A 22-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a pensioner in Dublin city last week.
76-year-old Kwok Ping Cheng, who was known as George to neighbors, was beaten to death at his apartment in Robinson’s Court.
Mr. Cheng's blood-covered body was found in his sitting room by a support worker who went to check on him in his flat on the morning of April 29th.
Dublin district court heard Oliver Doran, of Sophia Housing, Cork Street replied: "I am sorry about the man" when charged with Mr Cheng's murder this afternoon.
Doran stood silently for the duration of the hearing before being remanded in custody.
The 22-year-old is to due appear before Cloverhill district court via video link next week.
The case will resume on Tuesday.
