A man in his 60s has been shot dead in Co. Mayo.
It happened at Aghamore near Ballyhaunis just before midnight last night, when a man in his 80s heard noises outside his house.
He fired a number of shots to warn off any potential intruders.
A neighbour - a man in his 60s - was hit, and died at the scene.

The scene itself is currently preserved for technical examination, and an incident room has been set up at Claremorris Garda Station.
Gardaí arrested a man in his 80s in connection with the shooting.
He's being held at Castlebar Garda Station where he can be detained for up to 24 hours.
