Gardaí say the man killed in an attack in Tallaght, Dublin overnight was the victim of a hit and run.
Shortly before midnight, last night Gardaí received reports of shots being fired at a residence in a housing estate on Tymon Road North.
No injuries were reported during this incident, but later a man in his 50s was struck by a van outside the home.
The van failed to remain at the scene but was later found at Tymonville Gardens.
A man in his early 30s was arrested nearvy.
He's now being questioned at Tallaght Garda Station.
The man who was attacked at the housing estate was brought to Tallaght hospital with serious injuries, but was later pronounced dead.
Gardaí at Tallaght are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.
Gardai are particularly interested in a dark coloured hatchback car that was seen leaving the area around this time.
