A 33 year old man has died following a shooting in north Belfast.

Police say the victim was shot three times in the leg in an alleyway at Butler Place close to Elmfield Street just after 10 o'clock last night.

He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital where later died from his injuries.

The PSNI has described the shooting as a "heinous crime", and are appealing for witnesses.
