A major covid-19 outbreak has been reported at a nursing home in Galway.
25 out of 27 residents at the Nightingale Nursing home in Ahascragh have tested positive for the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, one of its residents has died after contracting the virus.
Most nursing staff have also been infected along with healthcare assistants.
The HSE has assured that staffing has been secured for the next 3 days.
HSE Chief Operations Officer Anne O'Connor says they are monitoring the situation:
"We also know that the rosters are covered. We have staff in place to provide support to the nursing home. We also have a dedicated manager providing daily support in terms of accessing staff.
We're continuing to monitor the NH closely and we know that we have stable staffing in place for the next three days."
