The covid-19 lockdown has been extended until Monday, May 18th.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar made the announcement this evening in an address to the nation.
Some restrictions are being eased - from Tuesday people will be allowed to exercise within 5km of their home.
For those cocooning, they are being allowed to go for a walk or drive within 5km of their home.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said the restrictions need to be extended "to weaken the virus further so it doesn't have the strength to make a come back".
From May 18th, outdoor work such as that on building sites will be allowed to resume while the likes of garden centres, hardware stores and repair shops will also be allowed to reopen.
Outside fitness activities will also be allowed, but only in small numbers.
At the moment, it is envisaged that schools ad colleges will be allowed to reopen in September or October, at the start of the new academic year.
