The owners of the historic Lissadell Estate have won an appeal against a finding that rights of way exist on the property.
Barristers Edward Walsh and Constance Cassidy bought the former home of the Gore Booth family in 2003 for €4m and spent some €9.5m restoring it.
The High Court ruled public rights of way did exist on the land but that's been unanimously overturned by the Supreme Court.
Costs in the case are estimated at around 6 million euro.
The couple were not in court but their daughter Elanor Walsh spoke on behalf of the family:
Sligo County Council said it is 'intensely disappointed' at the Supreme Court decision.
Solicitor for the council Dermot Hewson said the issue of costs will be hotly debated.
