New research has found leaving lights on in empty rooms costs less than you might think.
Data from Uswitch has found the savings from turning off lights could amount to just over €2 a year.
It found half of families argue over leaving the lights on in empty rooms.
The data shows leaving a 4.2 watt LED bulb on for an extra four hours every day adds up to around €2.30 over the course of a year.
An online survey of more than 2,400 people found leaving lights on in empty rooms causes arguments in 51% of household.
Having the heating thermostat set too high led to disagreements in 32% of homes, 10% said leaving the TV when no-one's watching caused bickering, and 7% said they had a gripe with people turning on the dishwasher when it's only half full.
