This year's Leaving Cert students will be offered the option of getting calculated grades for the subjects they are studying.
However, students will also be given the chance to sit the 2020 Leaving cert exams at a date when it is safe for them to be held.
As well as calculated grades, teachers will also be asked to submit "A class rank order" which will rank their students ist out in order of their predicted level of achievement"
Teachers will consider previous classwork, homework, Christmas, summer and mock exams when calculated the predicted grade.
The Department of Education says this will be subjected to a rigorous in-school alignment process to ensure fairness.
The school principal will approve the scores being provided.
A special unit within the Department of Education will be created to process the data and operate national standardization
The Department will finalise the grades for each student.
It's hoped students will get their grades as close as possible to the traditional date in August.
