The Leaving Cert results have been delayed until September
Education Minister Norma Foley confirmed last night that 60,000 students won't receive their calculated grades until September 7th - instead of mid-August.
CAO offers will be issued four days later on September 11th, meaning it could be October before many start third-level courses.
The Labour Party is now accusing the Education Minister of showing contempt to students.
Labour's Aodhan Ó Riordan's strongly criticising the minister for initially refusing to commit to a date: 'For this to come out on a Thursday evening, it's absolutely unbelievable. It's outrageous. I don't understand why we need to wait until September 7th.'
When I raised Leaving Cert results issue yesterday, the Minister wouldn’t confirm delay but then released a statement.
Minister must now address the Dáil on Tuesday and take questions on the matter.
The disrespect shown to students & their families just isn’t good enough. https://t.co/ukUqhfbhBb— Aodhán Ó Ríordáin (@AodhanORiordain) July 17, 2020
