The Leaving Cert results are at a record high, for a second year in a row.
Over 61 thousand students received their results this morning.
1. I would like to congratulate each and every one of the students who will receive their results today. Today is the reward for all your efforts throughout the past number of years. Well done to you all.
It is an exciting time for you and there are enormous possibilities ahead.— Norma Foley T.D (@NormaFoleyTD1) September 3, 2021
Grade inflation is up 2.6 percent this year compared to last.
Almost a quarter of students taking higher level chemistry got H1 grades, double the average in the years 2017 to 2019.
Next month the CAO will offer candidates college places.
The record results will mean that points for third-level courses will likely increase.
Meanwhile, Minister Norma Foley has said Leaving Cert exams are to return to the traditional format in 2022.
