Last Month Was The Warmest January In History
Last month was the warmest January ever globally.
It's the latest figures from the EU climate monitoring service.
Over the month average temperatures were 0.12 degrees higher than any other January - the last warmest was 2020.
It was also confirmed that 2023 was more than 1.5 degrees higher than the pre-industrial era - which if the trend continues means there will be catastrophic effects from climate change.
2023 was also the warmest year in recorded history.
The head of the EU climate monitoring services said the streak of warmest months goes back to June.
Earlier this week the European Commission announced plans to cut emissions by 90% by 2040.
