A man has had his conviction for the murder of his infant son quashed, more than 15 years after he was found guilty.
Yusuf Ali Abdi with a last address in the Elms, College Road, Clane, Co Kildare was jailed for life in 2003 for killing his 20 month old son Nathan.
He always maintained that he was insane at the time and in 2013 he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
The Court of Appeal has now ruled that the verdict was unsafe in light of the newly discovered facts and a retrial has been ordered.
