There's a great sense of numbness, of unreality and of disbelief in a North Kerry village this morning.
That's according to Lixnaw's Parish Priest Fr Anthony O'Sullivan, who says the community is reeling following the news of a suspected double murder suicide last night.
The body of a woman in her 60s and her son, who was in his 20s, were found inside a house near Lixnaw last evening.
Both had been shot, while the body of the father, a man in his 60s, was later found in a field at the rear of the house near a shotgun.
The scene has been preserved pending the arrival of the State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau.
Gardaí say they're not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
