Johnny Depp will face off with his ex-wife in a $50 million defamation trial today.
He's suing Amber Heard in the US state of Virginia over an article she wrote for the Washington Post, in which she described herself as a victim of domestic violence.
The trial is being televised although the Judge has imposed certain reporting restrictions because of the graphic nature of some of the evidence.
New York based reporter Harriet Alexander says Depp claims his ex-wife's article destroyed his acting career.
She says he was dropped from the Pirates of the Carribean franchise in the wake of the allegations.
Depp lost a defamation case against The Sun newspaper in the UK last year, which called him a "wife-beater".
